Samsung Ativ Tab with Windows 8 RT

We have been eying the Samsung Ativ Tab ever since Samsung announced that it would have windows 8 platform in it. Samsung already controls the Android market, thanks to the Galaxy Series and now it is trying to break into the Windows market with this new Ativ Tab.

The Samsung Ativ Tab weighs 570g which is good compared to the other 10” tabs out in the market and astonishingly, it has a very slim 8.9mm waistline. We can’t say that it is a surprise since Samsung is used to making very slim smartphones and tablets.

The Ativ tab has a 10.1” IPS LCD display with 1366 x 768 pixels of resolutions and also 400-nits of brightness. We still don’t know why Samsung chose the LCD display instead of its usual Super AMOLED displays. It has 2GB RAM, 1.5GHz dual-core Krait CPU and a Snapdragon S4 APQ6080a chipset. The Samsung Ativ tab has Bluetooth 4.0, microHDML, NFC, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, and a 2.0 USB port.

On the back of the tab, it has a 5MP camera with an LED flash and also a 1.9MP front facing camera for taking good self-portrait pictures and also for video-chatting or using Skype.

The back is made up of tough plastic and is like a hyper glaze material. It has only one button on the front which is the Windows key. It has stereo speakers at the front on both sides of the display, and is going to provide superb quality user experience.

Window 8 got released in October and we had positive reviews from critics about the Ativ Tab. The new User Interface is very different from other Windows phone and it appears to be very fast. Microsoft has done a great job with the OS of the Ativ tab and it surely deserves a lot of appreciation. We expect Samsung to provide us the launch date and the price range of this powerful Windows tab, and we are keeping our fingers crossed to see if Samsung can really break into the Windows market with this powerful and stylish tab.
